Clint Hyndman (Something For Kate) and Pete Smedley for the next ‘In Conversation’ industry night

Don’t miss the next instalment of MP Music Network’s popular In Conversation series, coming to The Royal Hotel in Mornington for another evening of music, stories and industry connection.

This time, we’re joined by acclaimed Australian drummer and hospitality entrepreneur Clint Hyndman, who will sit down with respected local broadcaster Pete Smedley to reflect on his remarkable journey through Australian music, hospitality and live events.

Clint Hyndman spent three decades touring the world as the drummer for hugely successful Australian band Something for Kate, who have released numerous records and built a devoted following in Australia and internationally. Despite SFK’s global success and countless tours, Clint has always maintained strong ties to the Mornington Peninsula, where he grew up.

During a break from touring, Clint turned his attention to hospitality, opening a divey Tex-Mex bar on Melbourne’s Chapel Street before returning to the Peninsula, where he became involved in venues including Mornington’s Wowee Zowie and Loosie’s Diner and Slim’s Hot Pizza in Mount Eliza.

That long connection to the Peninsula eventually led Clint to Young Street Tavern in Frankston — a relaxed local pub combining good food, cold drinks, live music and a distinctly rock ’n’ roll spirit.

Its upstairs band room has hosted artists including Tim Rogers, Steve Kilbey, Adalita, Kim Salmon and The Meanies, while the pub has become a genuine local hangout — a natural extension of Clint’s life in music, hospitality and the Peninsula.
