With a pronounce stammer from an early age a young Tom Millington developed his language through rhythm thus creating a unique relationship with music.
“Music gave me the opportunity to communicate and express myself deeply, I have been speaking and thinking in rhythms for as long as I can remember”.
Playing in bands from the age of 11 from Rock, Funk, Jazz, Hip hop, Soul and Pop bands, touring and playing many UK venues and festivals, Millington moved to Australia in 2009 to embark on his next chapter as a solo artist refining his voice, guitar and piano skills with the aim of captivating each audience.
Millington has been playing regular shows over Victoria whilst doing an annual tour of France and the UK for the last 7 years and has supported artists such as Pierce Brothers, Mat McHugh (Beautiful Girls), Hayden Calnin and Tash Sultana.
In between travelling and shows Millington has spent his spare time writing and recording his debut EP and single of the same title ‘Being’, with Joe Hammond (Hello Satellite, Hudson and Troop) Pots and Pans Studio, Melbourne and Aria award winning producer Pip Norman (TZU, Urthboy, Dan Sultan) Meliodora Studios Melbourne. The whole EP is of a conceptual nature as Tom explores all elements of love, spirit and the human condition.
Debut single ‘Being’ is a Pop anthem, a landscape of acoustic instruments, synths and a symphony of voices depicting how Millington delivered his daughter into this world, the feeling of euphoria he experienced there after with a underlying message of hope for the future.
“To play, write and record music is like therapy for me. I enjoy being the music’s vessel, as I believe it transcends, it’s the language of the heart and helps me to manage ego. Understanding the music is the star gives me flow”.
